Founder & Architect

Ken Gibbons, CPA, CPFA

Financial Engineering was founded by Ken Gibbons, CPA, CPFA, an investment advisor and retirement plan fiduciary focused on coordinating complex financial systems.

After years working across tax, plan compliance, and financial advisory, a consistent issue appeared: financial systems were rarely coordinated.

Financial Engineering was created to provide architectural oversight across these systems.

CPA work, tax preparation, and even higher-level advisory services eventually felt incomplete. Over time, I realized clients weren’t lacking effort or intention — they were lacking coordination.

I didn’t see anyone responsible for the full financial picture. Tax planning both business and individual, investments, insurance, and long-term strategy were handled separately, with each area operating independently.

The result was predictable: gaps formed, overlaps went unnoticed, and proactive adjustments were rare.

This applied equally to businesses and to the personal financial structures of the owners themselves.

Why I built Financial Engineering.

I expanded my work beyond tax preparation into investment advisory and insurance planning for a simple reason: to reduce blind spots.

The goal wasn’t to add services. It was to remove fragmentation.

Financial Engineering was built to focus on coordination — reviewing how financial decisions interact, renewing strategies when they no longer fit, and monitoring alignment as conditions change. This approach allows decisions to remain intentional rather than reactive, and structured rather than piecemeal.

How I approach the work.

The work begins with a clear review of where things stand — across personal, business, and long-term planning considerations. From there, strategies are renewed only when necessary, with attention to how each decision affects the broader financial system.

Ongoing monitoring helps ensure that planning remains aligned over time, even as variables shift. The emphasis is not on constant activity, but on disciplined adjustment when it’s warranted.
